Born in the jungles of Nigeria, West Africa in the heart of the Niger River Delta, as the daughter of missionaries, Harriet spent her childhood running barefoot in speckled sunlight that danced through thick trees and playing in the African rain. This carefree tropical childhood ended when civil war broke out in Nigeria and her family returned to America. They settled in the beautiful mountains of Bluefield, West Virginia where Harriet attended junior high and high school.

She is a child of two countries. To this day, both places live in her heart and come out in her writings. From her years in Africa, she remembers tall palm trees and the freshness of the first rain of the season with the dry world eagerly drinking up each raindrop, and lizards scurrying across screened windows. But she also loves America’s four seasons—the breathtaking beauty of a crisp autumn day, a warm fire on a winter’s night, and spring and summer flowers.

Since her first published article in 2010, she now has ten books she has either authored or co-authored, and several hundred published articles, short stories, and devotions. Harriet’s writings are as diverse as her life has been. Though
she writes primarily nonfiction pieces, she has penned one novel and will make
her debut as children’s author next year with the release of her first
children’s book.

Harriet holds a BS in nursing from West Virginia University but has discovered her passion for writing. She and John, her husband of over forty years, now live in Kentucky. They have four grown children and five grandchildren. When she’s not writing she enjoys substitute teaching at a Christian school, gardening, and cooking.

I see everything else."

Glimpses of God: An Autumn Devotional for Women

Creator God made the world in which we live.

He placed the moon and stars in the sky, the rivers and oceans on the earth. He also created seasons throughout the year. Each season is defined by specific features and attributes that are common.

As Christ-followers we experience spiritual seasons. Though these seasons do not come in order like seasons in nature, each spiritual season we experience is defined by certain features.

This book is focused on autumn—both calendar and spiritual. During our spiritual autumns, we prepare for change and the possibility of difficult days ahead. It also represents abundance and blessings.

This book is part of the four-book Glimpses of God series.

During this season, we must rest in the truth of God’s sovereign mercy, grace, love, and care for His children.
